pricing

Website Creation

I meet with each client at some length prior to determining a price range for a project. Because websites vary widely in terms of complexity and number of features, I do not have a set pricing schedule for my work. I will spend as much time as necessary meeting with a potential client, either in person or by phone, to determine exactly what they would like to accomplish with their website, and from there, we determine which features should be included. Further, pricing is affected by how much content the client will provide versus how much I am expected to create.

As described in “The Website Design Process”, I encourage each client to complete a “Website Wishlist”. It can be filled out online, or collaboratively over the phone. This enables me to get a sense of a clients needs, tastes and preferences. Once the scope of the project has been established, I will present a pricing proposal. In most cases, this would be a “not to exceed” number, although under certain circumstances I may agree to work on an hourly basis.

Once the client has agree to the pricing proposal, I will ask for a deposit (typically 20 percent) prior to getting started. The balance of the fee will be collected once the site has been completed to the satisfaction of the client.

Website Updating

Depending on the purpose of your site, you may wish to update your galleries, change the look of certain pages, add blog posts, create new pages, etc.

Many older websites need to be updated in order to be easily viewed on mobile devices such as tablets, iPhones and Android devices. Sites that are not mobile-friendly will be downgraded in Google rankings. Switching your website’s theme to a responsive (mobile friendly) theme is an easy fix, and is, for the majority of website owners, a necessity. Not sure if your website is responsive? It’s very easy to find out by using Google’s Mobile Friendly Test.

Website Monitoring

Another service I offer is the ongoing monitoring of your website. This would include periodic updates of the WordPress platform, as well as updating any plugins, and making sure that all of your plugins are compatible with the current version of WordPress. Keeping a website updated is crucial in order to avoid security breaches or hacking.

Since each website will have different ongoing requirements, I typically offer clients the choice of a flat fee or an hourly fee. These rates would be negotiated on a case by case basis.
